On Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd the Historic Grove Theater in Oak Ridge will once again be open for the community to share a meal together. This time is especially crafted for individuals who may be spending Thanksgiving alone due to any number of circumstances. This event began as a grassroots effort to meet the needs of those who might have lost family, recently moved here from another place, or might otherwise be away from family & friends on the holiday. For the past decade it has been hosted by High Places Community Church with volunteers coming from many different churches and organizations.
A full meal of turkey, sides, and desserts will be served to every person or family who arrives between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Thursday. There will be plenty of room to sit and enjoy a meal in the company of others. We traditionally feed over 300 people each year, including volunteers and neighbors who would rather not spend the holiday alone.
