The People’s Supper format is designed to be useful for building common ground across any number of hopes, issues, or difficult topics. Meals can be designed just as easily to bring the staff of your business or school together as they can be designed to tackle tough issues facing communities — like race relations, immigration, or the political divide. Suppers can be designed to help a company connect to its customer base, or created to help bridge relationships in a congregation.

No matter what the kind of supper, all good suppers need hosts! Hosting a supper or leading a conversation can be one of the most rewarding things about being involved in the People’s Supper Oak Ridge movement. Hosts are critical in setting the mood, tone, and feel of a good conversation. And discussion facilitators are key to making sure everyone at the table stays engaged. We’re committed to making sure anyone who feels called to take part in leading this movement has the opportunity and the resources they need to hold a successful dinner.

If you’d like to discussion options further in person, you are invited to contact David Allred of High Places Community Church either by email at highplaceschurch@comcast.net or by calling the Grove Theater and leaving a message, 865.425.0501.

We’ll be offering periodic training throughout the year on facilitating conversations, as well as be able to share some of the things that have worked (and some that haven’t) when it comes to hosting your own supper.
